Day 20

Light Fog

I've come to realize that Bradford is a very foggy area. So I tried to catch it on camera, several times. And failed, several times. After some research, I found out that I am an idiot, and you cannot capture 'fog' you can only capture the effects fog has on the subjects in front of you. Duh. So! Here is some fog severely diminishing the view from my balcony (there's a big hill/tiny mountain - but you can't see it through the fog!). I particularly like the purple-hued, sunburst effect it gave the sky.

Day 19

Crate This

The sun sets far too early around these parts. Back to night shots for today on a detour home from work. I wanted to catch the fog, but failed miserably. I'll be looking up some techniques..

Day 18

Snowmageddon!

Or rather, a light dusting on my balcony hand rail with a very narrow depth of field. Oh macro lens, how I love thee.

Day 17

Psychedelic Cactus

Wow! Did that cold ever kick my ass. An entire week lost to my bed! I feel like I got run over by a truck - minus the abrasions and broken bones.

Anyway, today I got myself up over to the next room so I could get up close and personal with my garden. That's my cactus with fat, round leaves as opposed to my other cactus with long, thin leaves. I think I've also seen them referred to as succulents. Whatever they are, they make for some interesting macro shots. See the rest on Flickr: Here!

Day 16

Eye of Sonic

Playing around with some macro today. And light! Which I definitely prefer, but I guess I should thank my work schedule for forcing me out on those dark shooting trips - practice makes perfect, right? Anyway - Macro! Sonic's eye. My pets are incredibly patient with me. And trusting. They have no qualms with me shoving a giant lens in their faces. See more pet eyes and the other stuff at Flickr: Here!

Day 15

50km/h Mailbox

More night shooting. Using my headlights for more light. I really just liked the mailbox - clearly someone has been at it with a bat.

Day 14

Grown on Rooftops in T.dot

Very misleading. Wheat beers are generally cloudy. This one is clearly not, as you can see! Opaque box prevents you from noticing this until you get it home. We saw this at the motorcycle show in December - but only after we had already gotten the Blonde. Thought we'd try it out. While it definitely does not live up to our wheat beer standards, it is easy to go down!

Day 13

Badass

This truck would make my mom so happy. I know for sure this is one unicorn that is definitely not in her collection! And yes, we were at crappy tire.

Day 12

Bleachers Through Chainlink

Can you see it? Tonight's shoot was really dark. There wasn't much in the way of cloud coverage to bounce around all the light pollution this time. Really long exposures for this outing. This is the boyfriend's favourite. For my top pick, check Flickr: Here!

Day 11

 Merry Christmas

For some reason, all of my Christmas photos contain alcohol. How is this Christmas, you ask? Well, tonight was Christmas dinner with the in-laws at Jack Astor's.

Day 10

Shit Happens

Cynicism speaks words of truth. Tantrism is pretty much how I feel at this point. This would be one of those lame attempts to maintain my resolution. So not feeling it today.

Sub-par snapping,

Day 9

Fields at Night

Took a detour home from work tonight to do some shooting. This was my first shot, and one of the best of the night. The rest can be found on Flickr: Here! I love the overall tone of the photos shooting at night. Such ominous overtones. The boyfriend says it looks like 'some end of the world shit'. I took it as a compliment.

Day 8

Selection of Books

Started fooling around more with the manual options of my DLSR. It was a little pricey to be treating it as an overgrown point-and-shoot ha. Sara Douglass, by the way, is an amazing author. Definitely worth looking up.

Day 7

1989 Yamaha FZR 600

We ended up not going to the motorcycle show this weekend, so I went down and took some pictures of my boyfriend's bike to compromise. He says "You should never take pictures of a dirty bike". I told him to clean it.

Day 6

Dog Parade

Angus went to the Bark Park today and made some new friends. More pictures up on Flickr: Here!

Day 5

XBox Wars

More specifically, Halo 4 War Games. All day. Cuz we pretty much have no life. So much so that this pictures actually depicts how our apartment is set up: two tv's, opposite facings. We can see each other, but not the other screen. It's pretty sweet.

Day 4

40 Winks.. on my arm

This is Sonic. She makes life difficult. In this example, she moves right in and falls asleep on my mouse arm. At least she's cute while doing so.

Day 3

Best Part of the Job

Pearl. Printed. Solid. Mylar. Did you know balloons came in so many selections?

Day 2

Bits of the indoor garden.

Today's image brought to you by Plant Maintenance. You can see Colia's red leaves on the left, and Aloe on the right. Money Tree's leaves have gotten so full that you can't see the tall Poinsettia in behind it though.

Happy New Year!

It's a new year, so I've started a new blog. This is my life in pictures! How exciting - and original haha.

The goal is to post a photo from my day, every day, for the next 365 days. Should be simple enough - I do have three cameras at my disposal! One on the BB, a DSLR and a 35mm SLR (which will obviously be a mission to take the photo, finish the roll, develop the film and upload them all in one day.. Should be fun!)

So to start, say hello to my baby - Angus! Get used to seeing him, he is one of my favourite subjects <3 p="p">
"All I wanted for Christmas was more belly rubs"

Happy snapping,

-Mia
